International Dot Day Partner Resources

The following resources are made possible by partners whom we trust and whose offerings align with the values and mission of International Dot Day.

Candlewick Press

A leading publisher of high-quality children’s books, based near Boston, Massachusetts, Candlewick Press published The Dot book on September 15, 2003, which was followed by the rest of the Peter H. Reynolds’ Creatrilogy series, which includes Ish and Sky Color

The bundled version of all three books is offered as the Creatrilogy boxed set, which makes a very special gift for the Dot Day fans in your life. Paperback and Spanish versions of the books are also new available.

For a wonderful, hands-on experience, there is now the Make Your Mark Gallery: A Coloring Book-Ish, which encourages all ages to make their mark with encouraging illustrations and messages by Peter - including tear-out pages to add your creation to your own school, library or home gallery!

Candlewick Press is part of the global Walker Books Group and have together championed books International Dot Day, with the help of its partners like the Reading Agency, a UK charity that inspires social and personal change through the proven power of reading.

QuiverVision

Our friends at QuiverVision - based in Auckland, New Zealand, added a delightful tech-twist to International Dot Day with their app that transforms your HUMAN-created dots into 3D using augmented reality! A few years back, Peter H. Reynolds created a special Quivervision coloring sheet. We love seeing the AR dots that students and teachers create, so be sure to share them on social with hashtags #internationaldotday #quivervision.

S&S Worldwide

Since the founding of S&S Worldwide by their great grandfather in 1906, successive generations of the Schwartz family have been supplying schools, summer camps, libraries and youth community centers with supplies that nourish creativity and learning.

We love their International Dot Day event pack, which provides everything you need to celebrate with 100 or more kids of all ages. (With enough supplies to make over 300 individual pieces of art!) - plus a hardcover copy of “The Dot” book by Peter H. Reynolds.

MerryMakers

MerryMakers is a woman-owned business founded in 1994, and truly leaders the field in the design and manufacture of high-quality plush dolls and toys based on the best children’s books. They work closely with authors and illustrators to create toys and plush that truly honor the best in children’s literature.

That’s why we were thrilled to see The Dot book chosen for MerryMakers’ Cover Stories series. This plush pillow makes the perfect gift for the Dot Day fans in your life. With dynamic colors and artwork directly from the book’s cover, this is sure to be a collectible in years to come. Add to a reading chair, showcase on a shelf, or snuggle up during storytime - as year-round inspiration to make your mark!

Novel Effect

We love Matt Hammersley and his team at Novel Effect. Their amazing app essentially provides a full soundtrack - with music and sound effects - as you read the storybooks they have in their evergrowing collection.  It’s like having a backup band as you “perform” your reading.  Lucky for us, Novel Effect features all three titles in Peter H. Reynolds Creatrilogy series - including Spanish editions!  The production quality for these soundscapes is breathtaking - and will absolutely add more sparkle to your Dot Day celebrations.

ABRAMS The Art of Books

Founded by Harry N. Abrams in 1949, ABRAMS was the first company in the United States to specialize in the creation and distribution of art books. Their gift and stationery imprint - Abrams Noterie - collaborated with Peter H. Reynolds to create a spectacular guided journal. Along with inspirational encouragement to make big dots, little dots, colorful dots, orderly dots, and scattered dots, you’ll move on to other mark-making activities, conquering perfectionism, loosening up, and letting your creativity flow. Whether you’re a timid beginner or a seasoned artist who needs a creative jolt to keep fresh and recharge, this journal is for you. (Also available: Start with a Word: A Journal for Finding Your Voice!)

Scholastic

Looking for another way to add some big screen magic to your Dot Day celebration?  Did you know that the full Creatrilogy series is available as short animated films - in English and Spanish! Peter H. Reynolds’ own educational media company FableVision Studios has been collaborating with Scholastic’s Weston Woods Studios for over two decades - including producing award-winning animated film versions of The Dot, Ish and Sky Color.  Known for their best-in-class audio and short films that stay true to beloved books for children, we’re honored to have Weston Woods as resource partners! In addition to these animated films. Scholastic also publishes low-cost, paperback versions of The Dot, Ish and Sky Color.

TheaterWorksUSA

Why not add a stage performance to your Dot Day celebration!? Our creative colleagues at TheaterWorksUSA have led the Theater for Young and Family Audiences movement in New York City and across North America for over half a century. Since 1961, the 501(c)3 not-for-profit has captured the imaginations of 100 million new and veteran theatergoers with an award-winning repertoire of over 140 original plays and musicals - including a musical adaptation of Peter H. Reynolds’ best-selling storybook about creativity The DotDOT DOT DOT: A New Musical is based on the Creatrilogy trio of The Dot, Ish and Sky Color. Adapted by Composers Keelay Gipson and Sam Salmond, the musical, like the series, celebrates the power of originality, self-expression, and opening our eyes to look beyond the expected. If you’re performing the musical, please let us know. #DotDotDotMusical #InternationalDotDay

The Reading Agency

The Reading Agency is a UK-based charity registered in England and Wales, which promotes the benefits of reading among children and adults in UK, working with partners including public libraries, colleges and prisons.  They’ve been wonderful Dot Day partners over the years - collaborating with Walker Books - to provide both physical and digital resource materials to participants across the UK and working it into their Summer Reading Challenge program.
