QuiverVision & International Dot Day: A Journey of Creativity in Augmented Reality

Our connection with International Dot Day began nearly a decade ago when we first encountered Peter H. Reynolds’ inspiring book The Dot. Its powerful message instantly resonated with our team. At QuiverVision, we’re dedicated to igniting imagination through technology, and we saw a perfect alignment with our mission: transforming simple drawings into immersive, 3D learning experiences through the magic of augmented reality.

Since then, International Dot Day has become a true highlight in our calendar. Each year, we’ve expanded our offerings, from our very first AR Dot coloring sheet to the redesigned Dot Day 2.0 AR sheet launched in 2022, and now our latest innovation: the Dot Day Galaxy Gallery, where students can view their unique creations in a stunning augmented reality Gallery.

One unforgettable moment was in September 2023, when over 500,000 students and educators scanned our Dot Day AR sheet during the week of celebrations. The overwhelming engagement temporarily maxed out our server capacity and even caused a brief app outage, prompting us to upgrade our cloud infrastructure so young learners around the world could continue to bring their dots to life!

How to use the Quiver Dot Day AR experience with your students:

It’s simple and fun! Just:

  • Download the free Dot Day coloring sheet from our website.

  • Have your students draw or color a creative design inside the dot.

  • Use the free Quiver app to scan the page and bring the artwork to life in 3D!

Students can interact with their own 3D dots by popping bubbles, solving mazes, and even uploading them to the online Dot Day Galaxy Gallery, creating a vibrant, global showcase of imagination. The Galaxy Gallery is a collaborative space where multiple students can see and explore each other’s creations in one shared environment. They can arrange the dots around the virtual scene, creating a collective celebration of creativity and self-expression.

Dot Day sheets have been creatively used in classrooms across a variety of topics, from Maths and Geometry to Solar System science. Explore our teacher-created activity plans here:

For us, Dot Day is more than just a celebration. It’s a global movement that reminds us all that even the smallest mark, a single dot, can spark innovation, confidence, and joy. 🌍🎨💫
