Dot Day Signature Events 2026

While there are thousands of wonderful Dot Day events happening every year all around the “big blue dot” of planet Earth, Peter H. Reynolds (author/illustrator of THE DOT) will be personally involved in the following events:

  • Monday, August 31: PHR Virtual Keynote - Fresno County School Librarians - Peter will be keynoting to 70 Librarians from the district. Each teacher will receive a Peter H. Reynolds book, purchased from a local bookshop.

  • Sunday, September 6,  10am-3pm: ICA Boston “Play Date” Dot Day Celebration- Creatrilogy animated films screening, Peter appearance/book signing, staff read alouds, dot-making workshop.

  • Monday, September 7: KitLit TV StoryMakers with Peter H. Reynolds‍ - World Premiere at 7am EST ‍- stay tuned for details.

  • Friday, September 11, 12pm ET: Adobe Live: K-12 Education Edition- Peterwill share how he uses digital art tools to make his mark, and help celebrate the launch of Dot Day Dock on Adobe’s Aqua, a free, creative playground where kids can color, trace, and play art games.

  • Saturday, September 12, 10am-4pm: Museum of Fine Arts in Boston- Drop-in art making, The Dot animated film screening, in-person book signing from Peter, and special appearance by School of Honk - an all-ages, radically-inclusive community mobile brass band where everyone wears (you guessed it) DOTS!! A gathering of the Dot Kids” (some of the thousands who received The Dot book when they were born at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA) at noontime by the giant MFA sign on the front lawn.   • Saturday/Sunday, September 12 & 13: Blue Bunny Books, Dedham, MA- Weekend Dot Day Fest. Special Sunday event hosted by Peter with book signing, dot making activities, sidewalk chalk dot drawing, and our second annual Indie BookFest!

  • Monday, September 14: Dot Day Message from TLC Studios - Virtual message from Peter who will welcome the first countries on the planet to Dot Day - 4pm Boston time will be 10am September 15th in Kiribati UTC+14. 5pm will be 10am in Samoa, Tonga, and in the territory of Tokelau. Finally at 6pm, Peter welcomes New Zealand UTC+12 (NZST) - which will already be 10am on Sept 15th!

  • Tuesday, September 15 - Dot Day in NYC:

    • 9am, Live From NY! It’s Dot Day in the Big Apple! Peter will deliver a live, morning IG message as he voyages through NYC to get to his big event at CMoM. IG: @peterhreynolds

    • 10:30am, Children’s Museum of Manhattan - day-long events with special appearance and interactive Dot book reading by Peter!

    • 1pm KitLit TV Ready Set Draw! with Peter H. Reynolds and Vashti - World Premiere at 1pm EST - click here for details to join the unveiling!

    • 3:30pm, Books of Wonder, New York City's oldest and largest independent children's bookstore! Located at 42 West 17th Street in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. Peter will be doing a quick pop-up book signing. Catch him there to get your book signed and personalized.   • Thursday, September 17, 1:30pm ET: BrainPOP’s Dot Day Live “Virtual Field Trip” hosted by Peter H. Reynolds and one of BrainPOPs’ rockstar animators, featuring an interactive art demo and discussion about how Peter’s 7th grade math teacher inspired him to be an animator!   • Saturday, September 19: Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum - Dot Day Celebration! Join us in Washington, DC with collaborative mural making with dots, book signing by Peter Reynolds, dot sidewalk chalking, and an interactive read-aloud of The Dot! Learn more.

  • September 25-27: Aspen Words Literary Fest - Peter will be speaking, signing books and leading a valley-wide community celebration in Aspen, Colorado - including 3 school visits on Friday. Peter’s twin brother Paul will be joining the fun!

    • Saturday, September 26 - Peter H. Reynolds & Kate Bowler at the Wheeler Opera House. Ticketed event info.

  • September 28-30, Los Angeles “Make Your Mark!” Celebration

    • Los Angeles School District (LAUSD) month-long Dot Day campaign across the entire district - 1400 schools!

    • Wednesday, September 30, 11:30am - Cayton Children’s Museum (near Santa Monica Pier) Peter will be doing an interactive reading of the The Dot with a meet-and-greet/book signing to follow.

  • October 22-24: Georgia Arts Education Association - Peter will keynote to over 500 art educators from the state of Georgia. Their theme is “Make Your Mark.” Featuring a book signing, and Peter’s non-profit Reynolds TLC will have a booth at the conference.

  • October: Dot Day Rwanda - live virtual celebration on October 14th! Details TBA.

  • Saturday, November 21: PHR VIRTUAL Keynote - NYS Arts Education Conference- Post-Dot Day celebration!
