Sharon Creech

Newbery Medalist Sharon Creech was the inspiration for the Celebridot project. In 2011, Dot Day founder Terry Shay received an email from Creech containing a "dot" she had created, which inspired him to ask other authors, illustrators, and celebrities to do the same.

Sharon is an acclaimed American writer of children's and young adult literature. Best known for her emotional, humorous novels like Walk Two Moons(1995 Newbery Medal), Love That Dog, and Ruby Holler (2002 Carnegie Medal), she made history as the first person to win both the American Newbery and British Carnegie Medals.

The dot presented here is that first-ever Celebri-Dot by Sharon Creech, which went on to inspire hundreds of other dots from celebrities and other creatives in Terry’s dot-connecting network:
